Wednesday 19 July 2017 La Mure-Serre Chevalier Stage (La Salle les Alpes)
For the first time, La Mure is a Tour de France stage town before the riders reach Serre Chevalier (Hautes-Alpes), Luc Alphand’s resort. 183 km where the Col d’Ornon serves as a warm up (a 5.1 km ascent at 6.7% gradient) before the Croix de Fer, the Télégraphe, the Galibier and the Lautaret. Climbing the legendary Galibier (hors catégorie pass) by the north side will no doubt be decisive. The Galibier, at an altitude of 2642 m will be the “roof” of the 2017 Tour before the descent towards the Lautaret then the Serre Chevalier Valley and the arrival in La Salle des Alpes. The perfect opportunity for the climbers to express themselves, reverse the trend or even increase their time difference. A prestigious route.
